How I Arrived

Mummy started having mild contractions on Saturday, 1st Dec 2007. It started at 10plus in the morning. The pain was half an hour apart. As time went by, the pain was getting more frequent and stronger. In the evening, atuk (grandpa), nyai (grandma) and aunty roza came to my house. They brought mattress, pillows and even tv as atuk and nyai will be staying at admiralty for 3 weeks to take care of mummy and faiq during the confinement period. Nyai even gave some clothes that she bought for faiq. Nyai told mummy to pre-wash the clothes first but mummy was sceptical on whether she will have time to do it before she gives birth.

That night, mummy cannot sleep. Mummy was tired and very sleepy but the pain kept waking mummy up. Everytime the pain comes, mummy had to sit up. Lying down felt even worse. Mummy tried her very best to withstand the pain while saying lots of selawat and prayers. As dawn came, mummy cannot stand it anymore. The pain was 15 minutes apart by then but waterbag has not burst and there's no blood. At 7.30 mummy woke daddy up and asked to be send to kkh. Mummy was on the verge of tears. In the car, mummy fall asleep.

When mummy reached the delivery suite, the nurse said mummy was 4cm dilated so they will call Dr S L Goh, mummy's obs, to come. Dr Goh came at 10plus am. She said she had to burst mummy's waterbag to speed up the labour progress. Mummy asked for epidural. After given the epidural, finally, mummy slept peacefully as mummy felt no pain. At 1 plus Dr Goh came to burst the waterbag. All went smoothly without any pain. At 6.30pm mummy felt that she wanted to push but nurse said there's still about 1cm more before mummy can start pushing. The cervix has to be fully dilated at 10cm for mummy to push faiq out of her womb safely. Mummy waited till 7.30pm. This time the need to push was more urgent. Nurse checked and said mummy can start pushing. Nurse guided mummy on the correct way to push and breathe. Nurse said mummy had to keep pushing till faiq's head crowned before nurse can call Dr Goh to come. At 8plus nurse said can call Dr Goh. When Dr Goh came, she and 3 other nurses helped mummy to push.

After much pain, Muhammad Faiq Rifqi was born into this world at 9.24pm on 2nd Dec 2007(Sunday)!! Mummy was overjoyed to hear faiq's cries. Daddy was so happy and overwhelmed. Mummy would really like to thank daddy for being such a supportive and loving husband and also for being there all the way as mummy was bringing faiq into the world. Mummy and daddy would also like to thank the families waiting outside delivery suite since 8pm for their support and prayers.

It was such a moving and touching experience for both mummy and daddy. When mummy was wheeled out of delivery suite, she was greeted by smiles, cheers and tears of aunty, nyai, atuk mansor, nenek, atuk hamid, yut ismail, yut rokiah and nyai long. Syukur alhamdulillah both mummy and faiq were safe.
